‘Community In Bloom Schools’ resource materials (CIB Schools) aims to promote gardening among schools and help schools develop innovative school gardens that are both beautiful and educational. CIB Schools is an offshoot of the ‘Community In Bloom’ programme (CIB), which was launched in 2005 by the National Parks Board (NParks), with the aim of nurturing the love for gardening among everyone. More information on ‘Community in Bloom’ can be found at
http://www.nparks.gov.sg/cib_intro.asp.
CIB Schools contains two teacher’s resource books developed by NParks, for Primary and Secondary levels. These books contain gardening-based engaging activities that capture students’ attention and interests, value-add to the curricula and encourage self-directed learning. They are specially designed to turn gardening activities and nature appreciation into mini projects and school gardens into an outdoor classroom where students develop skills like science process skills, project management skills and teamwork.

In line with the commitment for the environment and nurturing a passion for learning – in the classroom and beyond, LEAD is proud to partner NParks in the promotion of the ‘CIB Schools’ resources. Through this portal, you can download soft copies of CIB school resources comprising ready-to-use worksheets and notes, and lesson plans specially created by LEAD – integrating CIB activities with LEAD courseware to create a unique learning experience. Interactive courseware in support of the ‘CIB Schools’, and other collaborative projects are also in the pipeline, so be sure to visit this site for more updates.
We wish you and your students hours of enriching experiences in the outdoors and in your school garden! Do provide NParks with your feedback on the CIB Schools resources and share with us your experience in conducting CIB activities in your school via email: CommunityInBloom@nparks.gov.sg or call us at 6471 7808.
